Forgive Me My Sins by Natasha Knight

It's been a hot minute since I put a book review up here.  I felt this book needed some more words LOL  The reviews I post on GoodReads and on Facebook are usually short and to the point.  Here I can wax poetically about stuff.

Well, hello Santos Augustine!  Santos and Madelena are the main characters of Forgive Me My Sins by Natasha Knight.  I hadn't read anything by her before and this sounded good when I read the blurb so I figured, why not? I am SOOOO glad I got it.  Once I started reading I couldn't put it down.  Santos is part of a criminal family who is trying to make a name for themselves and be accepted by the rich and elite.  And how does the Augustine family expect to achieve that?  By having Santos marry the daughter of one of those families.  Here's where you get Madelena.  But the thing is, Madelena is only 15 and I'm guessing Santos is around 25.

Naturally, they can't marry immediately because of her age.  But the contract has been signed between not just the families, but between Santos and Madelena.  The contract signing is the first time they meet.  Santos lets her grow up but manages to show up in her life at various times.  And without giving too much away, let's just say that he makes an impression each time he reveals himself.

This book starts in the present and then jumps back five years to their first meeting and then brings us forward with those times they encounter one another until we are back in the present.  There is such a push and pull between them.  You can tell they care for each other, but don't want to admit it, much less let the other know.

We've got some mystery going on in here due to a gift Madelena receives on her wedding day.  Things are not as they appear.  We've got some interesting side characters - Santos's brother, Caius, and the Avery family.  Yes, the whole family.  I'm not sure I trust either.

And then we get to the ending.  OH MY STARS!!!!  There is a cliffhanger of epic proportions!  And I'm dying to get the next book to see what happens.  I have theories.  My theories are usually incorrect LOL  But I can not wait to see if I'm right, or at least close.

Go grab this book.  You won't regret it :)

Until Next Time....

Ready for the rodeo?

Well, after being away from sewing and listing and selling for a couple of years, I've finally got something new up. I used an adorable cowboy and cowgirl fabric from Michael Miller and made this skirt and top that would be perfect for a trip to the rodeo. Or it would be great for western day at school. Feel free to check it out...even bid on it ;0) http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Boutique-Rascals-Western-Cowgirl-CBD-FCBM_W0QQitemZ280255354898QQihZ018QQcategoryZ79714QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

A Lady Awakened by Cecilia Grant

I won an ARC of this on Goodreads - thank you so much!  I enjoyed it so much! My favorite romances are of the Regency period and this is that time period.  But that is where all similarities to others end.  Mrs. Russell (I just can't bring myself to call her Martha LOL) is a new widow who comes to realize she will loose her home and her dowry if she doesn't produce a male heir.  The kicker to this is that the late Mr. Russell's brother is a total jerk-face who has taken advantage of women in their home when he lived there as a young man.  Enter Mr. Theo Mirkwood...the rogue who has been sent to the country as a punishment by his father.  Mrs. Russell employs Mr. Mirkwood as her "stud" for a month so she can conceive a child and claim the inheritance.   Mrs. Russell believes she can't take any pleasure from their daily (later it becomes nightly) encounters.  Theo eventually changes her mind.  Martha is so set on her plan to thwart her late hus

So Harley has this interview to do

for church. She's suppose to interview one of the "older" members of the church about their Christmas memories and she'll have a presentation to do in front of the whole church at one of our Christmas programs. That is all fine and dandy, but she's in 3rd grade. Can you see her trying to take notes for when they answer her question of "what is your most memorable Christmas memory?" There is no way she can write even half way fast enough to get it down. I understand what they're trying to do and it's great! But what were they thinking asking a 3rd grader to do it? We have tons of 6th graders...let them do it. I'm tempted not to even bring her tonight for it. What should I do?
