Hello October!

Hello friends! It's been a while since I've been on here. I've read a bunch of books, eaten some yummy foods, sewn a lot of quilt blocks and stitched a lot of stitches. I've also had a wonderful vacation to Disney with the WHOLE family! Let me just tell you, it was HOT there. Yes, I know it's Florida and it's supposed to be hot.  But ya'll.  I'm originally from south Louisiana,  I get heat and humidity, but this was overwhelming lol the heat indexes were upper 90s and hit 101. In mid-September. But we still had a marvelous time. We rode all the rides we were aiming for and ate most of the snacks we planned for. And we got in two of our traditions-Boston Lobster Fest and mini-golf! 









I totally went off any eating plan while there.  Mind you, I am not really on an eating plan right now, but I didn't overthink food.  If I wanted the fish and chips from the England pub at EPCOT, I ate it (it was fantastic!). I gained 4 pounds at Disney lol I've lost 3 of them in the week since being back. So, now I need to focus on getting back on track. What track is the question though. At the moment, I am leaning towards going back to Weight Watchers (I guess I should call them WW since they officially go by that now). This program works if you follow it and make good food choices. 

This month I also want to focus on a few sewing and stitchy things. I'm going to do a stitch along with Jen and Sarah of Stitchy Friends to do Wee Santa 2023 by Heart in Hand this month.  I've got most of the threads already and will probably just substitute Colour and Cotton for what I don't have. I want to work on Grant's stocking so that maybe he can have it this year. I also would like to finish some WIPs that are close to being done like the bittersweet squirrel and my fall Gather Round set. I started on the Fig Tree BOM Manchester by the Sea that I gifted myself a few Christmases ago and I want to get that done and send it off to be quilted.  I also want to finish my Pumpkin Festival quilt by Coriander Quilts that I've got going. I'm going to do better at keeping up here. I promise!

Lover Unleashed by JR Ward

Are you reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series?  If you're not, can I ask why not?  And if you're not, I'm going to tell you that I think you need to stop reading this for a few minutes and go to Amazon or Barnes & Noble or some website and either buy you a paper copy or download a copy of Dark Lover and start reading the series (This is a series that HAS to be read in order).  This can wait.  Go do that and then come back and see what I'm going to say. So this was book 9 in the series.  Payne and Manny's story.  And while we got their story, I felt it was eclipsed by Payne's brother Vishous.  I love getting lost in the Brothers' world.  When I open the book and start reading, my children and home all fade away and I'm in Caldwell with them (is Caldwell, NY a real place?).  We got introduced to some new vampires in this installment and that was pretty cool.  There was NO Lesser pov here and that was more than pretty cool.  Just between us

Finally Finished A Year of Celebrations

Ash and Grant came visit the second week of July.  I always love having them at the house.  I miss them terribly.  So, I knew I needed to get my butt in gear and finish her birthday present. I actually finished stitching these pretties back in May, well before we left Odessa.  I even bought the frame for them in Odessa. And cut out the sticky board LOL  I had ordered a new glue gun, but the wrong glue stick size, so that is what the hold up was.  But, with Ashley coming to visit I got the correct glue sticks and got to work. This was easy to finish up and Ashley loved them.  The pattern is A Year of Celebrations by Hands on Design (one of both mine and Ashley's favorite designers). I dyed the fabric myself.  I believe it was a color called paper bag on the Rit Dye website.  I used some of the called for colors, but most of it was switched to Colour and Cotton threads. With this set being done, I am motivated to finish up my Truckin Along series b
