Stitch and Sew plans for May

Monday is May 1st and that marks the beginning of #StichMaynia for cross stitchers.  I've participated in this in previous years.  I've never done it exactly as the originators designed -  start 31 new projects, one each day.  That is just a bit much for me and honestly, I don't have the fabric stash to do that LOL   This year I've decided to change it up again.  Instead of starting new things, I am going to work on WIPS that need to be finished.  So, consider this my starting point post for those WIPS. First up to finish is Hands on Design's Year of Celebrations season 1.  I'm doing this as a birthday gift for Ashley, my oldest daughter.  Well, her birthday was in March HAHAHAHA  I started this last May when the second season was released.  I'm working on January's and only have February, March and April left. Next up is another Hands on Design pattern.  I am a member of her Gather Round Club.  Seasonal s...

I Started a New Hobby

Well, hey there.  As you know, I cross stitch and sew.  I've been doing these hobbies for YEARS.  I learned to cross stitch when I was in middle school.  I learned to sew 27 years ago.  How do I know that for certain?  My MIL gave me a sewing machine when I was pregnant for Lauren - daughter #3 and she will be 27 this July. The first thing I sewed was a cute little dress that was black and white gingham with a lace trim on the bottom.  My mom laughed because it wasn't labeled as an EASY pattern.  I just jumped right in.  I called her and went over with my dress several times just to make sure I was doing it right.  Since then I have sewn hundreds of pieces of clothing.  Not just for the girls, but if you dig through the blog, I also sold my stuff there for a while. Well, being a sewing enthusiast, I like all types of sewing.  I use to watch quilting shows when the girls were little.  HGTV use to have them back in the...

It's Been a Hot Minute

Well, hello there!  It's been a hot minute since I've visited with you.  Lots has changed in the last year and several months.   We've had two marriages in the family - Daughters 1 and 3.  Daughter 1 got married in January of 2022.  She and Grant had a wonderful private event at my mom's house with just immediate family.  Daughter 3 had an even more private event since she and Jarrett stopped by the library in the city they live in and got married while out running errands.  It was just the two of them and they've been happily married for almost a month now.  Hubs got a new job with a new company in October.  His new position allowed me to quit my job and once again be a stay at home mom.  Except since all the girls are out of the house I guess I'm a stay at home wife LOL  And since the girls are all out of the house, I am traveling with him as he goes around the country to work!  Currently we are in west Texas as he...

Make it work....

OK. So, the fabric I got from the challenge isn't tooooo bad together :) I'm making it work. My problem is with the trims. What am I suppose to do with the ribbon and lace??? Maybe a lace rose? Ribbon straps?with suspender clips? AACCKKK!!!! I'd post a pic and get suggestions but my rules said I can't do that. Soooo, I guess I'm on my own. I'll keep you posted! In other designing news...I've got a Valentine set finished. It goes in the mail tomorrow to the model. I got more Valentine fabric to sew. Not sure what I'm doing with it yet though. And another Valentine set planned, but with not overly Valentine fabric so it could be worn later in the year. Pretty, isn't it? Andddd...be on the lookout for a new website. www.boutiquerascals.com I'll have my wonderful creations for sale there and there will be lots of great things from all my Rascal buddies. We'll have clothes, bows, purses, jewelry, tooth fairy pillows, lots of great things!...

Gingerbread, anyone?

Can you believe it? I've got something else listed this week? I am so impressed. Are you? LOL I did this adorable gingerbread twirl skirt and applique top. It's a OOAK in a size 4/5...only because that is all the gingerbread fabric I had left ;0) You can check it out by clicking here . And did you notice the purse? Yep, I painted it. I kept seeing these cute wooden painted purses on ebay and wanted to try my hand at it. I'm one of those people who see things and think "I can do that". Well, believe it or not, it's actually harder than it would appear. It also could be that I am not an artistic person. At least not in that sense. I have vowed to try another one. Maybe with a Valentine set... And so, I was reading one blog that I particular enjoy reading and she had this picture on there. So I swiped it LOL And I am going to try it. By the end of the month I may want to scream. Or maybe you will because of the stuff I'm going to post and you'll be readi...

Is Winter Enchanting?

Well, it is if you are a member of the Boutique Rascals :) Our Enchanted Winter launch started this week. I had the most adorable Miss Kaden Lane model my sets for this launch. She's such a cutie and makes my things look even better ;0) First up is the skirt and top that you can find here . And then, there is the dress that you can find here . And there are lots of other enchanting items for your little sweetie to wear all winter long! Check them out by searching BOUTIQUE RASCALS on ebay!

Christmas in Pink

So, I finally finished something new. I know, it's taken me what seems like forever. I did this one in nontraditional colors....pink and brown aren't usually colors associated with Christmas. But with me, you never can tell LOL The jury is still out on whether or not I like this pattern (it's the popular Euro pattern called Vida by Farbenmix). I guess I'll have to give it another try and see what I think then. I'll let you know. I've got another Christmas set almost finished. It's in red and green for all you traditionalist ;0) I've also got a purse painted to match it. I didn't think I'd like painting...still not sure LOL I guess painting is one of those things that you can learn to like ???? I should be able to finish it this week since I'm not working all week long. At least as of right now I'm not :) Have a great week!

Why don't you like this????

Alright. What was it about this skirt and top? Not like the fabric? Did I not spam it enough? Not have a child that will fit in it? Well, whatever it was, it didn't sell. I was heartbroken. Not really, I'm just picking ;0) Anyway, since it didn't sell, I've relisted it. You can find it here . It's a size 2t/3T just in case you forgot :) I managed to gets tons of sewing done today. I was so busy sewing, I forgot to pick up Lauren from school! Thankfully, she's in junior high and wasn't traumatized by it :) In forgetting her at school, I finished my first Christmas set of the season. It's pink and brown. I know, you're thinking, "pink and brown? That's not Christmas colors." And you would be TOTALLY correct LOL You'll have to see it though. It works :) I'll be listing it sometime next week.

BOO!

Here's what will probably be the last of my Halloween listings for the year. A cute twirl skirt and appliqued top. This one is a OOAK that is sized to fit a 2T/3T. You can click here to find it (and bid, heehee) If you're wondering who the cute little girl is...her name is Olivia. Nope, she's not mine LOL She's precious and I hope to have her model some more things for me. I could just eat her up!

Another Halloween Listing

So, I've listed this adorable (if I say so myself) witch's hat set for NStyle's Halloween launch. I used black and white polka dot fabric for the pants and hat applique. Now tell me, what witch wouldn't want to wear polkadots???? I added a purple bow to the hat just to girly it up a little :) And if you like the bows, make sure to check out suzie*qs*boutique to get them. Julie makes fabulous bows...we own several of her sets :) You can find the auction here... And don't go to far because I've got another Halloween set to list next week! It's a OOAK twirl skirt and top. Be looking for it!

they like me, they really like me!

Guess what! I'm a now a member of the Boutique Rascals. They are a great bunch of girls who are very close, very talented and very funny. Make sure that you search Boutique Rascals on ebay to see how talented they are. MUUUWAHH!

Halloween's around the corner

So, I've been working on Hallween designs this week. What you see in the picture is a sneek peek of a set I'm listing next week for Bow*nified Designs Spooky Chic Halloween launch. I've got a OOAK skirt set almost finished and another set ready to cut out. Who'd have thought that I'd be working on Halloween stuff the very week the girls go back to school. I surely didn't. But I feel the need to keep up with what is selling :) And speaking of the girls going back to school this week...I've already subbed for 3 days! It's the first FULL week of school and teachers are missing days. CRAZY! However, I mustn't complain. This at least gets me in the classroom and schools so teachers won't forget me and the principals won't forget me so they can give me a job ;0)

Ready for the rodeo?

Well, after being away from sewing and listing and selling for a couple of years, I've finally got something new up. I used an adorable cowboy and cowgirl fabric from Michael Miller and made this skirt and top that would be perfect for a trip to the rodeo. Or it would be great for western day at school. Feel free to check it out...even bid on it ;0) http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Boutique-Rascals-Western-Cowgirl-CBD-FCBM_W0QQitemZ280255354898QQihZ018QQcategoryZ79714QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
