It's Been a Hot Minute

Well, hello there!  It's been a hot minute since I've visited with you.  Lots has changed in the last year and several months.

We've had two marriages in the family - Daughters 1 and 3.  Daughter 1 got married in January of 2022.  She and Grant had a wonderful private event at my mom's house with just immediate family.  Daughter 3 had an even more private event since she and Jarrett stopped by the library in the city they live in and got married while out running errands.  It was just the two of them and they've been happily married for almost a month now.

Hubs got a new job with a new company in October.  His new position allowed me to quit my job and once again be a stay at home mom.  Except since all the girls are out of the house I guess I'm a stay at home wife LOL  And since the girls are all out of the house, I am traveling with him as he goes around the country to work!  Currently we are in west Texas as he heads up the electrical portion of projects in Odessa and southwest New Mexico.  We've been here since early October and are thinking May will be the wrap up on these projects.

Since I am at home now, I have been reading, sewing and stitching up a storm!  I ended up reading 158 books last year.  My goal was 104, so not bad since I worked full time until the end of September.  This year's goal is 150 and I'm at 20 so far.  GoodReads says I am right on track LOL  Last week I read an AMAZING trilogy by Olivia Wildenstein.  I'll have to come back and tell you all about it.  In stitchy and sewing news, I am still plugging along with attempting to do all the projects in the world.  I've attempted embroidery on a collar of a sunsuit and have a bodice for a dress that I'm embroidering right now.  God love Em, she has already thanked me for the dress and it's sitting in pieces on the box top. Guess I need to finish that so she can wear it.  It's Nashville Market time in the cross stitch world and I have been drooling over MANY of the new releases that will come out next month.  I finished stitching Emery's stocking and started on Grant's.  I have the pattern picked out for Jarrett's.  There is so much I want to stitch and there just isn't enough time in the day.

Healthwise things have been rough.  I had my gallbladder removed last March because I was hurting all the time.  Since then no more pain.  That surgery somehow made me give up Coke.  I drink about one a week now.  I was also diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last year.  It's taken a good six months to get the numbers back down, but it's under control for the most part.  My body is VERY sensitive to the number fluctuating.  If it goes 15-20 points in either direction I end up with a headache.  If I don't catch it quick enough the headache does me in for the rest of the day.  I am in the process of trying to find a way to stabilize my blood sugar during the day.  Any suggestions?

Until next time...

Ready for the rodeo?

Well, after being away from sewing and listing and selling for a couple of years, I've finally got something new up. I used an adorable cowboy and cowgirl fabric from Michael Miller and made this skirt and top that would be perfect for a trip to the rodeo. Or it would be great for western day at school. Feel free to check it out...even bid on it ;0) http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Boutique-Rascals-Western-Cowgirl-CBD-FCBM_W0QQitemZ280255354898QQihZ018QQcategoryZ79714QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

A Lady Awakened by Cecilia Grant

I won an ARC of this on Goodreads - thank you so much!  I enjoyed it so much! My favorite romances are of the Regency period and this is that time period.  But that is where all similarities to others end.  Mrs. Russell (I just can't bring myself to call her Martha LOL) is a new widow who comes to realize she will loose her home and her dowry if she doesn't produce a male heir.  The kicker to this is that the late Mr. Russell's brother is a total jerk-face who has taken advantage of women in their home when he lived there as a young man.  Enter Mr. Theo Mirkwood...the rogue who has been sent to the country as a punishment by his father.  Mrs. Russell employs Mr. Mirkwood as her "stud" for a month so she can conceive a child and claim the inheritance.   Mrs. Russell believes she can't take any pleasure from their daily (later it becomes nightly) encounters.  Theo eventually changes her mind.  Martha is so set on her plan to thwart her late hus

So Harley has this interview to do

for church. She's suppose to interview one of the "older" members of the church about their Christmas memories and she'll have a presentation to do in front of the whole church at one of our Christmas programs. That is all fine and dandy, but she's in 3rd grade. Can you see her trying to take notes for when they answer her question of "what is your most memorable Christmas memory?" There is no way she can write even half way fast enough to get it down. I understand what they're trying to do and it's great! But what were they thinking asking a 3rd grader to do it? We have tons of 6th graders...let them do it. I'm tempted not to even bring her tonight for it. What should I do?
