Make it work....

OK. So, the fabric I got from the challenge isn't tooooo bad together :) I'm making it work. My problem is with the trims. What am I suppose to do with the ribbon and lace??? Maybe a lace rose? Ribbon straps?with suspender clips? AACCKKK!!!! I'd post a pic and get suggestions but my rules said I can't do that. Soooo, I guess I'm on my own. I'll keep you posted! In other designing news...I've got a Valentine set finished. It goes in the mail tomorrow to the model. I got more Valentine fabric to sew. Not sure what I'm doing with it yet though. And another Valentine set planned, but with not overly Valentine fabric so it could be worn later in the year. Pretty, isn't it? Andddd...be on the lookout for a new website. www.boutiquerascals.com I'll have my wonderful creations for sale there and there will be lots of great things from all my Rascal buddies. We'll have clothes, bows, purses, jewelry, tooth fairy pillows, lots of great things!

It's official!

Well, I officially know where I'm student teaching and with who. I'm going to be starting off in 5th grade teaching science 4 times a day and 1 class of reading. Then after an amazing 7 and half weeks there, I go to 1st grade and teach everything :) The teacher I'm with for 5th grade is like a teacher master ....he has his AA certification, as well as his administration certification AND National Board Certification in science. The 1st grade teacher taught my Lauren 1st grade and I couldn't be happier than to be with her. Her kids always love her and she's super sweet. We've kept in touch through the years and I've even subbed for her several times. Soooo, in exactly 5 months I'll be finished and have a diploma from Athens State University in my hand!

It's her birthday!

16 years ago today she was born. A day I'll never forget. I woke up during the early morning and went to the bathroom (as preggo ladies often do in the middle of the night) so when I woke up at 7:30 to get ready for my doctor's appointment I didn't have to rush to the bathroom. I laid in the bed thinking of what I was going to eat for breakfast when my water broke! So I ended up in the bathroom anyway LOL I got dressed and we headed to the hospital....after I ate breakfast :) She arrived at 12:38...right after lunch. My only child to be born in the afternoon (the rest were morning babies). She weighed 9 pound and 1 ounce. She was 21 inches long. And had dark brown, almost black hair. And lots of it. She was a miserable baby. She had her days and nights mixed up. that didn't matter though cause she only slept for about 20 minutes at a time and then cried for the next half hour. She did that the first 3 months she was alive. I thought I'd die from lack of sleep. I wo

I found out early :)

Yep, I sure did. I'm not suppose to know until the 10th. But I found out today. And I couldn't be happier :) Oh, you want to know too? Or are you asking what the heck I'm talking about? I'm talking about student teaching... I know where I'm going. It pays to know people LOL I'm not going to share with you till the 10th though. Just to play it safe :) So, do you remember that contest I entered where I reposted a blog entry from one of my favorite blogs that I read? Well, I was selected as one of the winners (not sure if I shared that) and I recieved my fabrics and trims today. Jen says they're not suppose to match. I think they go alright together and already have a design in mind. I guess I'll sew this weekend. I'm not sewing this week cause I have to work all week. And I have finals this week. I can't wait to share my ideas with you :) Maybe I'll share a sneak peek of the fabrics later this week...be looking for them ;0)

School tomorrow means sewing for me!

Well, it's back to school for the kids tomorrow. That means it's just about bedtime. Right now the girls are argueing over what to wear. The forecast is for rain/snow showers!!! They're hoping for snow and that we won't have to go to school. So, while they're at school I plan on sewing. I have a winter dress planned for Harley. I also have several Valentine things that I need to get done. We also have an animal launch coming up early next year so I need to get busy with that. Maybe I can do a Valentine set and an animal set and send them off to be modeled at the same time. Do you think I can do it? Chances are slim knowing me ROFLOL

ROLL TIDE!!!!

Not that I'm a big football fan or anything, but it is the BIG game today! And I live in Alabama, so I had to choose one of the teams since yelling "Go LSU!" doesn't work for every game we watch LOL AND my hubby is a GIANT Bama fan so picking the other team just wouldn't work. Of course, Ashley, our oldest daughter, wants to go to Auburn. WHAT??? I think she has made this decision just to tick her Daddy off. Jenna is a true Daddy's girl and even changed what she wants to be when she grows up just so she won't have to go to Auburn. What a family ;0)

Dancing With the Stars Last Night

Well, Season 7 is over. I am sooo bummed that Warren and Kym didn't win. Yeah, Brooke was a better dancer. Yeah, Derek is kinda hot. But Warren's smile lit up the dance floor. And he was amazingly light on his feet for such a big guy. I'm glad Lance didn't win LOL The Dancing with the Stars tour is going to be in Nashville (that is the closest it's coming to me) but I can't go cause it's a Tuesday night and that is a school night and I have kids ROFLOL So, does anyone know when the next season starts????

So Harley has this interview to do

for church. She's suppose to interview one of the "older" members of the church about their Christmas memories and she'll have a presentation to do in front of the whole church at one of our Christmas programs. That is all fine and dandy, but she's in 3rd grade. Can you see her trying to take notes for when they answer her question of "what is your most memorable Christmas memory?" There is no way she can write even half way fast enough to get it down. I understand what they're trying to do and it's great! But what were they thinking asking a 3rd grader to do it? We have tons of 6th graders...let them do it. I'm tempted not to even bring her tonight for it. What should I do?

it's Friday night...where are YOUR kids?

Mine are all at the movies. NOT with each other, yet they're watching the same movie. They've gone to see.... Lauren has gone with her cheerleader friends to relax before another long day of competition tomorrow. Jenna has gone with her friends because she is a dedicated fan who has read all the books and anxiously waited for today. Ashley has gone with her boyfriend just to make Jenna mad cause she really doesn't give a rat's you know what about the movie or books. Of course Harley and Mallory are at home ;0) And what am I doing, you might ask? I am sitting at my lonely little computer planning ways to torture my husband. I wonder what would come up if I googled that. I may just do that... I'll report back and let you know.

Something to add....

If you're an ebay boutique junkie ;0) and a member of this board, please go vote for me. I've been nominated for Designer of the Month! I'd be really appreciative of your vote :)

SOOOO....

I think, actually I know, my cat is mad at me. He won't sit on my lap. Which is very unusual for him. I think it's cause I'm out of cat food and I'm suffering from a major headache and don't want to leave the house to get any. Typically he's in my lap as I sit at the computer. Today he just gets in my lap, turns circles and gets off and sits on my desk. Maybe he is just feeling sympathetic to my headache situation LOL maybe he's boycotting me cause he's hungry. Don't go thinking I'm starving my poor pet. It's not like that at all. He had a wonderful breakfast of chicken stuff from the can and he even had crunchies for lunch. He KNOWS it's supper time and I'm ignoring the food container and dishes ;0) Speaking of being mad at me...I'm sure my kids will be when they go to the bathroom later this evening and realize there isn't any toilet paper ROFLOL If you want a sure thing for investment purposes, by stock in t.p. As long

I'm Still Here

OK, so I haven't met the challenge of blogging everyday. It's hard to do. I get on the computer daily, so why is it so hard to blog? Quite honestly, I don't even come to my blog daily LOL Maybe I should set it as my home page so I would get around to it. I promise to do better for the rest of the month. If you didn't know, I'm a Dancing With the Stars fan :) And let me just say that the star I'm pulling for is still in the competition. YAY!!! I use all my text votes for them. Then I take hubby's phone and use his text votes ROFLOL Thankfully, we are pulling for the same couple. Hubby is enjoying it this season too. He is the one who put the TV on last night and called me in the living room :) Is there anyone else out there who is a fan? Tell me who you're wanting to win... On a happy note, the semester is all but over! 2 finals and 1 thematic unit and it's done! I'll work on those next week. I'm also planning on sewing next w

Date Night :)

For the last few months hubby and I have had a date night every Friday night. You know, with 5 kids, it's hard to get quality adult alone time LOL But then he got some overtime and had to start working on Saturday's and our Friday night dates had to be canceled. He's made up for the canceled ones tonight. We went to dinner at the one "nice" resturant we have in town. I had herb crusted tilapia, he had a ribeye. We chatted, we looked longingly into each others eyes (not really). We went to Home Depot after so I could look at dryers while we killed time before THE PLAY started. Yep, I said PLAY! Can you believe, he took me to a real live play?! We went to the local community college...yep, we have those here in Alabama, and saw their production of Noises Off. In case you're not familiar with it, it's a play within a play. Totally hilarious! You watch the same play 3 times from different view points. One was even from "backstage"! We laughed, we he

Yeah, well...

School work has caught up with me. If you didn't know, I'm a procrastinator by nature. And I have put off typing up field reports for my field observations I did LAST month. And now they're due by Monday. Not to mention that I have writing samples and a handwriting sample due Monday. I also have to do a thematic unit for the 28th. Thankfully I have the thematic unit half done already...just got to type it. I'm not going to be able to move my fingers by the time I finish typing all this stuff. And to further complicate things, we get new assignments starting Monday LOL I may not have a brain left come December. On a happier note, my house is prepared for the Christmas tree. The girls noticed that one of our neighbors put theirs up on Veteran's Day and they are now chomping at the bit to put ours up. I think Jenna is going to put our lights up this weekend. She has nothing better to do since she's still grounded. She does the lights on the porch anywa

I'm a gay Corn Muffin

Or so my 12 year old says LOL I realy think I am though cause I am jumping up and down over the fact that I was picked to win a grab bag of fabric for a design challenge :) Now, what on earth will I create with the multitude of nonmatching fabric that I will recieve???? I guess I will have to wait and see what the fabric fairy sends :) I bet you can't wait to see it. In other news....it's Veteran's Day and we're out of school for the day. That is a good thing and a bad thing. Good thing cause I have been sewing and relaxing. Bad thing cause hubby thinks I should be cleaning house. Who wants to clean house? Especially when there is fabric to be sewn into fabulous outfits ROFLOL Or when there is the vastness of the internet that I must surf and chat on with my wonderful ebay friends. See what I do all day? ;0)

I know, I know...

I missed blogging yesterday. SORRY! I went to cheer competition with Lauren in Huntsville. Then, we went with most of the other cheerleaders and mom's to eat and THEN shopping. Nothinig like a bunch of 7th grade cheerleaders shopping in the mall :) We had a great time but I was simply exhausted when I got home. I haven't uploaded the pics yet. I'll share when I get them on here. In the mean time, I found this on that super fun blog that I read often. I get 10 extra entries for reposting it here. Soooo, here it is :) I am issuing a challenge.... ...to all of my readers- Here are the details: 1) Leave a comment here & if you are not a blogger customer, email me (jen@fabricbliss.com) your contact info as well. This is how you'll enter PART I. 2) I will randomly pick 5 comments on Monday, November 10th. 3)Said commenters will receive a grab bag of various fabric and notions from me next week. 4)These commenters will have until the end of November to create some

Remind me again...

why I decided to sew and try to sell the things I sew. Is it that I love creating? Is it that I have a ton of fabric and I must do something with it all? Is it because my kids don't want to wear everything I make? Or is it because I like the joy of creating something that someone will put their kid in? I would have to say it's all those things. That being said, I really must get my hiney in gear and sew this weekend. I have a Valentine set to finish, a skull skirt to finish, and I need to get busy working on stuff to send to a friend who's doing a craft show at the beginning of December. Bad thing is is that I won't be home most of the day tomorrow to sew. I'll be at a regional cheerleading competition. I'm super thrilled about that, but would really like an uninteruptted day of sewing :)

Kindergarten????

I had to work today...subbed in kindergarten. Not sure I like those little kids LOL There were some little buggers in there. One started the morning off by moving the star that tells what day it is and knocking the whole calendar board down. Maybe if I had my own classroom of kindergarteners, complete with my rules and everything. Maybe that would be ok. I'm still thinking that I like teaching older kids :)

Gingerbread, anyone?

Can you believe it? I've got something else listed this week? I am so impressed. Are you? LOL I did this adorable gingerbread twirl skirt and applique top. It's a OOAK in a size 4/5...only because that is all the gingerbread fabric I had left ;0) You can check it out by clicking here . And did you notice the purse? Yep, I painted it. I kept seeing these cute wooden painted purses on ebay and wanted to try my hand at it. I'm one of those people who see things and think "I can do that". Well, believe it or not, it's actually harder than it would appear. It also could be that I am not an artistic person. At least not in that sense. I have vowed to try another one. Maybe with a Valentine set... And so, I was reading one blog that I particular enjoy reading and she had this picture on there. So I swiped it LOL And I am going to try it. By the end of the month I may want to scream. Or maybe you will because of the stuff I'm going to post and you'll be readi

Is Winter Enchanting?

Well, it is if you are a member of the Boutique Rascals :) Our Enchanted Winter launch started this week. I had the most adorable Miss Kaden Lane model my sets for this launch. She's such a cutie and makes my things look even better ;0) First up is the skirt and top that you can find here . And then, there is the dress that you can find here . And there are lots of other enchanting items for your little sweetie to wear all winter long! Check them out by searching BOUTIQUE RASCALS on ebay!

YIKES!!!!

oh.my.gosh!!!!!! Look what I just found in my laundry room! Well, not the particular one in the picture. But it's friend/cousin/twin...YUCK!!! Thank goodness my laundry room is NOT attached to the inside of my house. I think I would just die if it was. It's bad enough that he/she is in there, but the thought that it could get inside where we are makes me faint! And to make it worse, it's by my Christmas stuff :( My precious collectable Christmas ornaments. Hubby is on a run to Wally Wolrd to get a rat trap. We put mouse traps out this weekend with no luck. And now I know why...it's bigger than the blanking trap!!! I'll keep you updated....

I'm so happy!

I got a new dining room set today! I know, you're thinking "so what?!" Well, in our house, a sit down dinner is something we USE to do on a regular basis. Then our family grew. And grew. And grew. Now that there is 7 of us, it's rare for us to sit and have a family meal. That and the fact that I've got the kitchen table covered in fabric and sewing machines HAHA!!! So I'm happy to say that I got a new table and chairs for my dining room. And the girls and I already used for lunch today :)

Christmas in Pink

So, I finally finished something new. I know, it's taken me what seems like forever. I did this one in nontraditional colors....pink and brown aren't usually colors associated with Christmas. But with me, you never can tell LOL The jury is still out on whether or not I like this pattern (it's the popular Euro pattern called Vida by Farbenmix). I guess I'll have to give it another try and see what I think then. I'll let you know. I've got another Christmas set almost finished. It's in red and green for all you traditionalist ;0) I've also got a purse painted to match it. I didn't think I'd like painting...still not sure LOL I guess painting is one of those things that you can learn to like ???? I should be able to finish it this week since I'm not working all week long. At least as of right now I'm not :) Have a great week!

Why don't you like this????

Alright. What was it about this skirt and top? Not like the fabric? Did I not spam it enough? Not have a child that will fit in it? Well, whatever it was, it didn't sell. I was heartbroken. Not really, I'm just picking ;0) Anyway, since it didn't sell, I've relisted it. You can find it here . It's a size 2t/3T just in case you forgot :) I managed to gets tons of sewing done today. I was so busy sewing, I forgot to pick up Lauren from school! Thankfully, she's in junior high and wasn't traumatized by it :) In forgetting her at school, I finished my first Christmas set of the season. It's pink and brown. I know, you're thinking, "pink and brown? That's not Christmas colors." And you would be TOTALLY correct LOL You'll have to see it though. It works :) I'll be listing it sometime next week.

BOO!

Here's what will probably be the last of my Halloween listings for the year. A cute twirl skirt and appliqued top. This one is a OOAK that is sized to fit a 2T/3T. You can click here to find it (and bid, heehee) If you're wondering who the cute little girl is...her name is Olivia. Nope, she's not mine LOL She's precious and I hope to have her model some more things for me. I could just eat her up!

Another Halloween Listing

So, I've listed this adorable (if I say so myself) witch's hat set for NStyle's Halloween launch. I used black and white polka dot fabric for the pants and hat applique. Now tell me, what witch wouldn't want to wear polkadots???? I added a purple bow to the hat just to girly it up a little :) And if you like the bows, make sure to check out suzie*qs*boutique to get them. Julie makes fabulous bows...we own several of her sets :) You can find the auction here... And don't go to far because I've got another Halloween set to list next week! It's a OOAK twirl skirt and top. Be looking for it!

they like me, they really like me!

Guess what! I'm a now a member of the Boutique Rascals. They are a great bunch of girls who are very close, very talented and very funny. Make sure that you search Boutique Rascals on ebay to see how talented they are. MUUUWAHH!

Halloween's around the corner

So, I've been working on Hallween designs this week. What you see in the picture is a sneek peek of a set I'm listing next week for Bow*nified Designs Spooky Chic Halloween launch. I've got a OOAK skirt set almost finished and another set ready to cut out. Who'd have thought that I'd be working on Halloween stuff the very week the girls go back to school. I surely didn't. But I feel the need to keep up with what is selling :) And speaking of the girls going back to school this week...I've already subbed for 3 days! It's the first FULL week of school and teachers are missing days. CRAZY! However, I mustn't complain. This at least gets me in the classroom and schools so teachers won't forget me and the principals won't forget me so they can give me a job ;0)

Why is it so hard?

Why is it so hard to get anything done when your children are home? School started last Thursday and already Harley has had me come check her out of school. Granted, she really must not feel good (she went to bed at 8ish last night), but she wants to know what's for lunch, she wants to know if she can take a nap in my bed, she wants to know if we're going to the store for toilet paper (yep, we're out...we must really invest in stock in a toilet paper company). I have a TON of things to get done today and I find myself sitting with my daughter. I'm sure I'll look back on this one day and miss it.

Ready for the rodeo?

Well, after being away from sewing and listing and selling for a couple of years, I've finally got something new up. I used an adorable cowboy and cowgirl fabric from Michael Miller and made this skirt and top that would be perfect for a trip to the rodeo. Or it would be great for western day at school. Feel free to check it out...even bid on it ;0) http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Boutique-Rascals-Western-Cowgirl-CBD-FCBM_W0QQitemZ280255354898QQihZ018QQcategoryZ79714QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
