Crafty Round Up for mid-October

Hi friends!!  I figured I needed to come share my sewing/stitching/quilting updates with you because it's been a while.  So, let's get started...

First up is quilty goodness.  And it comes with a story.  Christmas 2021 I bought myself a block of the month subscription from Fig Tree Fabrics for her Manchester by the Sea Mystery BOM program.  If you are not familiar with Joanna and Fig Tree Fabrics, go check her out.  Her stuff is GORGEOUS!!!  I've bought her fabric forever for clothes for the girls.  Joanna does the block of the month programs and sends out fabric and patterns each month and you end up with a beautiful sampler quilt.  Manchester by the Sea was scheduled for April 2022 thru March 2023.  I got a beautiful envelope of fabric and instructions to make blocks each of those months and did not touch a one of them until we came back from Disney last month.  I'm a member of her BOM group on Facebook and have seen the finished quilts for this and know it's wonderful.  It also has a block in it that says 2023 so I figured I need to get started on this so I can at least make it with the correct date block LOL  So, I pulled all the envelopes and brought them to Georgia and have managed to do months 1 and 2.

Also in Fig Tree quilting, I am up to date on the Midnight in the Garden BOM.  I received notice this morning that Month 3 will be delivered Friday!  This is so pretty!

Since I've been sewing in Georgia, the view from the window is all trees since we're in the mountains.  The colors are gorgeous and it's made me want to pull out Pumpkin Festival by Coriander Quilts.

I cut up the jelly roll for this one last month on National Jelly Roll Day and made a couple blocks.  Today I plan on sewing some more blocks and maybe cutting out all the pumpkins.  the fabric for this is Shades of Autumn by My Minds Eye for Riley Blake.

On the cross stitch front, I finished the squirrel from Waxing Moon's Bittersweet Trio.  I plan on framing this and giving it to the squirrels (Harley and Mallory).  Not sure what fabric this is other than a 28 count something.  I used all the called for floss in DMC and Weeks Dye Works.

I put Grant's stocking on my list of things I need to get working on.  I decided to do Stocking Sunday and devote Sundays to it.  However, last Sunday I didn't work on it cause we were coming back to Georgia and I hadn't brought it with me.  I will put some stitches in it tomorrow to make that up.

Friday I am starting a new SAL with Jenn and Sarah from Stitchy Friends.  We are doing the 2023 Wee Santa from Heart in Hand.  I think I have all the called for floss for it.  If not, I'll work with what I have and sub the rest.

Well, that's all for now.  It's cool here in the mountains so I'm making some gumbo for dinner and need to get started on that roux.

Until next time....

My Reading Habits

I am an avid book reader.  I have even been known to read a good bit of fanfiction (I'm a Twifan...yes, I admit that in public).  Since joining Goodreads I've come to love to do reading challenges.  In case you're like my best friend and have no clue what that might be, let me explain.  A reading challenge can be as simple as setting a reading goal for the year.  Or it can be as complex as one I'm doing next year that is an Artist Color Wheel Challenge - find book covers that are mainly the colors on the color wheel and are the shades of the grey scale. Anyway, I read Book Chick City's blog  http://www.bookchickcity.com/  and they're doing a Mystery/Suspense reading challenge that I'm going to join in on next year.  I'm going to see if I can read 12 mystery/suspense books.  You may be thinking that that isn't a whole lot of books for someone who claims to be an avid reader; and you're right, it's not BUT I normally don't read myste...

Still Standing by Kristen Ashley

I have a love/hate relationship with Kristen Ashley's books.  I've been reading her stuff since 2012.  Some of them, I have absolutely LOVED - The Gamble, I am looking at you.  Some I have quit reading without even making it to the half way point - the Honey series *shivers* just NO.  I have felt that the last few books I have read/attempted to read by her just haven't been in her style.  Kristen Ashley is wordy and descriptive.  Her characters are some times so aggravating, but at the same time you love them.  Well, with Still Standing I think she has gone back to that type of writing that her followers all across the world fell in love with. Yes, Clara was a bit trying at times.  She seemed a bit lost, and with good reason.  But she had such a good heart.  And let's not forget Buck and his alpha-ness.  But under that jerk he was sweet and loyal.  I loved that he spoke in full sentences - if you are a KA reader, you TOT...

WIP Wednesday

Today is Wednesday, right?  My days are always off after a holiday.  I'm thankful for the rest and family time, but I'm lost on days.  So, we're just going to go with today being Wednesday, even if it isn't (I just checked and it is!) So, with that being said, here's what I'm working on this week in cross stitch.  First up is my June Cross Stitch Camp piece.  Sherri, The Colorado Stitcher on Instagram and Youtube, hosts Cross Stitch Camp each summer.  Each month, June, July and August, has a theme.  June was stitch something with a bird.  I chose Every Day Things by Heart in Hand (this was released this year at Nashville Market).  I am soooo close to being done that I will finish it in July.  This is on 16 count wren by Picture this Plus with all the called for floss. July's Cross Stitch Camp theme was something that grows.  I liberated Autumn 1831 by Samplers Not Forgotten from my wish list on 123stitch.  I'm...
