Weekly Menu for April 17, 2023

Happy Monday, friends! It's a chilly overcast day in west Texas.  It actually looks like rain clouds, and the radar confirms that it is.  Rain is RARE out here.  Cold fronts come through and all we get is hurricane force winds, no rain.  So, I'm excited for the possibility of rain.  If only I had a tin roof to listen to it come down on *sigh*

As I said in my last post, last week's menu went to hell in a handbasket.   I made good food choices, just not what I planned.  Hubs requested "red neck food, not your fancy diet stuff".  So, let's see what's on the menu for this week...

Monday - hamburgers and fries.  I'll eat mine without a bun in a lettuce leaf and I'll have zucchini fries instead of potato fries.
Tuesday - roast and gravy, potatoes and carrots.  I'll do mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes.
Wednesday - Mardi Gras chicken and shrimp.  I didn't get it last week so it's getting cooked this week.
Thursday -  alligator sauce piquant. Hubs specifically mentioned this dish this morning when we discussing dinner. I'll eat mine over cauliflower rice
Friday - dinner out

Want to take bets on if I stick with the menu?  Until next time...

Ready for the rodeo?

Well, after being away from sewing and listing and selling for a couple of years, I've finally got something new up. I used an adorable cowboy and cowgirl fabric from Michael Miller and made this skirt and top that would be perfect for a trip to the rodeo. Or it would be great for western day at school. Feel free to check it out...even bid on it ;0) http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Boutique-Rascals-Western-Cowgirl-CBD-FCBM_W0QQitemZ280255354898QQihZ018QQcategoryZ79714QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

A Lady Awakened by Cecilia Grant

I won an ARC of this on Goodreads - thank you so much!  I enjoyed it so much! My favorite romances are of the Regency period and this is that time period.  But that is where all similarities to others end.  Mrs. Russell (I just can't bring myself to call her Martha LOL) is a new widow who comes to realize she will loose her home and her dowry if she doesn't produce a male heir.  The kicker to this is that the late Mr. Russell's brother is a total jerk-face who has taken advantage of women in their home when he lived there as a young man.  Enter Mr. Theo Mirkwood...the rogue who has been sent to the country as a punishment by his father.  Mrs. Russell employs Mr. Mirkwood as her "stud" for a month so she can conceive a child and claim the inheritance.   Mrs. Russell believes she can't take any pleasure from their daily (later it becomes nightly) encounters.  Theo eventually changes her mind.  Martha is so set on her plan to thwart her late hus

So Harley has this interview to do

for church. She's suppose to interview one of the "older" members of the church about their Christmas memories and she'll have a presentation to do in front of the whole church at one of our Christmas programs. That is all fine and dandy, but she's in 3rd grade. Can you see her trying to take notes for when they answer her question of "what is your most memorable Christmas memory?" There is no way she can write even half way fast enough to get it down. I understand what they're trying to do and it's great! But what were they thinking asking a 3rd grader to do it? We have tons of 6th graders...let them do it. I'm tempted not to even bring her tonight for it. What should I do?
