New Health Plan

Hi Friends!  Since my last post in February I have started a new health plan.  I am DETERMINED to get off my meds and feel better.  I have a friend that has lost 142 pounds!  She has managed to get her Type 2 diabetes under control, in fact, she's off the medication completely!  She's also gotten off her blood pressure meds.  I am in awe.  I reached out to her to see what she has done and she told me she is on the Optavia plan.

I told her to sign me up LOL  I am on Week 5 and I have lost 7.1 pounds!  I am super happy with the results so far.  I'm at a number on the scale that I haven't seen since Harley graduated from high school in 2018!  I have more energy and my blood sugar numbers are lowerand staying more stable.

The Optavia plan is a low carb diet that they call 5&1.  You eat five "fuelings" and 1 lean & green meal each day. And drink LOTS of water.  The goal is to eat every 2-3 hours to keep your blood sugar level. Quite honestly, I am finding it hard to eat 5 fuelings.  I am in bed before that last fueling time.  Have I gone "off plan" in the 4 1/2 weeks I've been doing this?  Yes.  Have I still lost weight? Also yes.  Would I have lost more weight if I hadn't gone off plan?  Also yes. But I am thrilled with what I have done so far.

I've cut out most carbs in my diet, meaning I've given up pasta, bread and potatoes for the most part.  We had grilled burgers Sunday.  Hubs at his on a bun and I did french fries for him.  I ate mine in a lettuce wrap and had zucchini fries.  I was not disappointed, nor did I feel like I was missing the bread.

So, my goal with this post is accountability.  Going forward I am going to post my menu plan for the week and maybe share some of the recipes that I love the most during the week.  Even if noone reads this, just the thought that it might be read by someone will help me stay on track.

Until next time...

Make it work....

OK. So, the fabric I got from the challenge isn't tooooo bad together :) I'm making it work. My problem is with the trims. What am I suppose to do with the ribbon and lace??? Maybe a lace rose? Ribbon straps?with suspender clips? AACCKKK!!!! I'd post a pic and get suggestions but my rules said I can't do that. Soooo, I guess I'm on my own. I'll keep you posted! In other designing news...I've got a Valentine set finished. It goes in the mail tomorrow to the model. I got more Valentine fabric to sew. Not sure what I'm doing with it yet though. And another Valentine set planned, but with not overly Valentine fabric so it could be worn later in the year. Pretty, isn't it? Andddd...be on the lookout for a new website. www.boutiquerascals.com I'll have my wonderful creations for sale there and there will be lots of great things from all my Rascal buddies. My Reading Habits

I am an avid book reader.  I have even been known to read a good bit of fanfiction (I'm a Twifan...yes, I admit that in public).  Since joining Goodreads I've come to love to do reading challenges.  In case you're like my best friend and have no clue what that might be, let me explain.  A reading challenge can be as simple as setting a reading goal for the year.  Or it can be as complex as one I'm doing next year that is an Artist Color Wheel Challenge - find book covers that are mainly the colors on the color wheel and are the shades of the grey scale. Anyway, I read Book Chick City's blog  http://www.bookchickcity.com/  and they're doing a Mystery/Suspense reading challenge that I'm going to join in on next year.  I'm going to see if I can read 12 mystery/suspense books.  You may be thinking that that isn't a whole lot of books for someone who claims to be an avid reader; and you're right, it's not BUT I normally don't read myste...

Ready for the rodeo?

Well, after being away from sewing and listing and selling for a couple of years, I've finally got something new up. I used an adorable cowboy and cowgirl fabric from Michael Miller and made this skirt and top that would be perfect for a trip to the rodeo. Or it would be great for western day at school. Feel free to check it out...even bid on it ;0) http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Boutique-Rascals-Western-Cowgirl-CBD-FCBM_W0QQitemZ280255354898QQihZ018QQcategoryZ79714QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
