New Health Plan

Hi Friends!  Since my last post in February I have started a new health plan.  I am DETERMINED to get off my meds and feel better.  I have a friend that has lost 142 pounds!  She has managed to get her Type 2 diabetes under control, in fact, she's off the medication completely!  She's also gotten off her blood pressure meds.  I am in awe.  I reached out to her to see what she has done and she told me she is on the Optavia plan.

I told her to sign me up LOL  I am on Week 5 and I have lost 7.1 pounds!  I am super happy with the results so far.  I'm at a number on the scale that I haven't seen since Harley graduated from high school in 2018!  I have more energy and my blood sugar numbers are lowerand staying more stable.

The Optavia plan is a low carb diet that they call 5&1.  You eat five "fuelings" and 1 lean & green meal each day. And drink LOTS of water.  The goal is to eat every 2-3 hours to keep your blood sugar level. Quite honestly, I am finding it hard to eat 5 fuelings.  I am in bed before that last fueling time.  Have I gone "off plan" in the 4 1/2 weeks I've been doing this?  Yes.  Have I still lost weight? Also yes.  Would I have lost more weight if I hadn't gone off plan?  Also yes. But I am thrilled with what I have done so far.

I've cut out most carbs in my diet, meaning I've given up pasta, bread and potatoes for the most part.  We had grilled burgers Sunday.  Hubs at his on a bun and I did french fries for him.  I ate mine in a lettuce wrap and had zucchini fries.  I was not disappointed, nor did I feel like I was missing the bread.

So, my goal with this post is accountability.  Going forward I am going to post my menu plan for the week and maybe share some of the recipes that I love the most during the week.  Even if noone reads this, just the thought that it might be read by someone will help me stay on track.

Until next time...

My Reading Habits

I am an avid book reader.  I have even been known to read a good bit of fanfiction (I'm a Twifan...yes, I admit that in public).  Since joining Goodreads I've come to love to do reading challenges.  In case you're like my best friend and have no clue what that might be, let me explain.  A reading challenge can be as simple as setting a reading goal for the year.  Or it can be as complex as one I'm doing next year that is an Artist Color Wheel Challenge - find book covers that are mainly the colors on the color wheel and are the shades of the grey scale. Anyway, I read Book Chick City's blog  http://www.bookchickcity.com/  and they're doing a Mystery/Suspense reading challenge that I'm going to join in on next year.  I'm going to see if I can read 12 mystery/suspense books.  You may be thinking that that isn't a whole lot of books for someone who claims to be an avid reader; and you're right, it's not BUT I normally don't read myste...

WIP Wednesday

Today is Wednesday, right?  My days are always off after a holiday.  I'm thankful for the rest and family time, but I'm lost on days.  So, we're just going to go with today being Wednesday, even if it isn't (I just checked and it is!) So, with that being said, here's what I'm working on this week in cross stitch.  First up is my June Cross Stitch Camp piece.  Sherri, The Colorado Stitcher on Instagram and Youtube, hosts Cross Stitch Camp each summer.  Each month, June, July and August, has a theme.  June was stitch something with a bird.  I chose Every Day Things by Heart in Hand (this was released this year at Nashville Market).  I am soooo close to being done that I will finish it in July.  This is on 16 count wren by Picture this Plus with all the called for floss. July's Cross Stitch Camp theme was something that grows.  I liberated Autumn 1831 by Samplers Not Forgotten from my wish list on 123stitch.  I'm...

Halloween's around the corner

So, I've been working on Hallween designs this week. What you see in the picture is a sneek peek of a set I'm listing next week for Bow*nified Designs Spooky Chic Halloween launch. I've got a OOAK skirt set almost finished and another set ready to cut out. Who'd have thought that I'd be working on Halloween stuff the very week the girls go back to school. I surely didn't. But I feel the need to keep up with what is selling :) And speaking of the girls going back to school this week...I've already subbed for 3 days! It's the first FULL week of school and teachers are missing days. CRAZY! However, I mustn't complain. This at least gets me in the classroom and schools so teachers won't forget me and the principals won't forget me so they can give me a job ;0)
