Stitch Goals

My cousin got married about two weeks ago. I knew he was getting married beforehand. I got a pretty invitation and am friends with him and his now wife on Facebook. I got to see all their plans and loved her hashtag #becomingborel That's how I know they have a pet pig. Knowing all this, I decided I wanted to make them something as a wedding gift. And besides, Nikki said they didn't really need anything since it's a second wedding for both of them. So, I found this adorable cross stitch pattern by Plum Street Samplers called Snort Stack and I knew it would be perfect for them.

Which leads me to this post and the sentence I started it with - my cousin got married a couple weeks ago. I am not finished with the cross stitching to give them their gift.  So, my weekend stitch goal is to at least finish the bottom pug and the flowers on the side.

I may not make those goals though since I am going to Tuscaloosa to see Harley and Mallory today.  I'm making them gumbo. But I have my cross stitch with me so while it's cooking I'll try to get some stitches in.

Speaking of stitching,  let me give you a quick update on my other projects.

Pumpkin Cottage by Country Cottage Needleworks is coming along nicely. That was my Sunday stitch last week. I have the most adorable wooden pumpkin to finish it on.

I worked some more on Kringles and the September Trucking Along,  but don't have pictures. I'll take some tomorrow and share. Now I need to run!

Until next time!

My Reading Habits

I am an avid book reader.  I have even been known to read a good bit of fanfiction (I'm a Twifan...yes, I admit that in public).  Since joining Goodreads I've come to love to do reading challenges.  In case you're like my best friend and have no clue what that might be, let me explain.  A reading challenge can be as simple as setting a reading goal for the year.  Or it can be as complex as one I'm doing next year that is an Artist Color Wheel Challenge - find book covers that are mainly the colors on the color wheel and are the shades of the grey scale. Anyway, I read Book Chick City's blog  http://www.bookchickcity.com/  and they're doing a Mystery/Suspense reading challenge that I'm going to join in on next year.  I'm going to see if I can read 12 mystery/suspense books.  You may be thinking that that isn't a whole lot of books for someone who claims to be an avid reader; and you're right, it's not BUT I normally don't read myste...

Make it work....

OK. So, the fabric I got from the challenge isn't tooooo bad together :) I'm making it work. My problem is with the trims. What am I suppose to do with the ribbon and lace??? Maybe a lace rose? Ribbon straps?with suspender clips? AACCKKK!!!! I'd post a pic and get suggestions but my rules said I can't do that. Soooo, I guess I'm on my own. I'll keep you posted! In other designing news...I've got a Valentine set finished. It goes in the mail tomorrow to the model. I got more Valentine fabric to sew. Not sure what I'm doing with it yet though. And another Valentine set planned, but with not overly Valentine fabric so it could be worn later in the year. Pretty, isn't it? Andddd...be on the lookout for a new website. www.boutiquerascals.com I'll have my wonderful creations for sale there and there will be lots of great things from all my Rascal buddies. We'll have clothes, bows, purses, jewelry, tooth fairy pillows, lots of great things!...

Ready for the rodeo?

Well, after being away from sewing and listing and selling for a couple of years, I've finally got something new up. I used an adorable cowboy and cowgirl fabric from Michael Miller and made this skirt and top that would be perfect for a trip to the rodeo. Or it would be great for western day at school. Feel free to check it out...even bid on it ;0) http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Boutique-Rascals-Western-Cowgirl-CBD-FCBM_W0QQitemZ280255354898QQihZ018QQcategoryZ79714QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
