The Revenge Pact by Ilsa Madden-Mills

How was your Thanksgiving holiday?  Ours was great!  The Squirrels were home from Tuscaloosa and Lola and Agent J (that is what we call Lauren and Jarrett LOL) came over.  We went simple this year - fried turkey, obligatory veggie casserole, green beans, mac and cheese and Lola made homemade rolls and a pumpkin ganache for dessert.

Over the long weekend we got Jenna mostly moved into her new apartment.  I think we just have the dressers and mattress left to move.  We unpacked most of the boxes and got things put up on the walls.  There is a nice new gate at the top of the stairs because Emery wanders 😂 We still need to put the one at the bottom, but that is an easy fix.  The top one had to be screwed in the wall because we are sure that she would walk up to it and push and then she and the gate would go tumbling.

I got lots of stitching time and reading time during the break.  I finished stitching Town Church by Little House Needleworks.  It was a fun stitch.  I looked at the tutorial on the website for finishing and I honestly think that is what I will do.  It will probably end up on the mantle this year.  At least it will if I ever get around to decorating the house.

And while we are on the topic of finishing stuff, I read The Revenge Pact by Ilsa Madden-Mills this weekend.

HOLY COW!  This was AMAZING!  I have been reading Ilsa's books for a few years and she can write new adult/college age romances like nobody's business.  I am way past that age, but I fall for her characters each and every time.  And not just the heroes.  Her heroines are fantastic and sometimes I wish I was more like them.

With this one, she brings us to a different college campus and a different set of characters.  River Tate is the hero here and let's just say he is not perfect.  You know how sometimes when you read a romance, the hero is perfect and you swoon for him, but you know you would NEVER find someone like that in real life?  Well, River isn't that guy.  River has faults and problems and is real and I think that made me love him all the more.  But even with his faults and problems, he is loyal and loving and genuinely cares about others. His leading lady in here is Anastasia Bailey.  She's smart and pretty and off limits to River.  She has her insecurities, but her heart is so good.  Watching them dance around each other and eventually realize they were meant to be together was wonderful.  The sexual tension was off the charts!  I was crying there towards the end, but ended this with a huge smile on my face.

If you haven't ever read anything by Ilsa Madden-Mills before, please go get one of her books, or all of her books.  This one comes out on December 3 and you can get it here.  You definitely won't be sorry.  I'll be reading River and Anastasia's story again in the future.

Until next time...

Ready for the rodeo?

Well, after being away from sewing and listing and selling for a couple of years, I've finally got something new up. I used an adorable cowboy and cowgirl fabric from Michael Miller and made this skirt and top that would be perfect for a trip to the rodeo. Or it would be great for western day at school. Feel free to check it out...even bid on it ;0) http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Boutique-Rascals-Western-Cowgirl-CBD-FCBM_W0QQitemZ280255354898QQihZ018QQcategoryZ79714QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

A Lady Awakened by Cecilia Grant

I won an ARC of this on Goodreads - thank you so much!  I enjoyed it so much! My favorite romances are of the Regency period and this is that time period.  But that is where all similarities to others end.  Mrs. Russell (I just can't bring myself to call her Martha LOL) is a new widow who comes to realize she will loose her home and her dowry if she doesn't produce a male heir.  The kicker to this is that the late Mr. Russell's brother is a total jerk-face who has taken advantage of women in their home when he lived there as a young man.  Enter Mr. Theo Mirkwood...the rogue who has been sent to the country as a punishment by his father.  Mrs. Russell employs Mr. Mirkwood as her "stud" for a month so she can conceive a child and claim the inheritance.   Mrs. Russell believes she can't take any pleasure from their daily (later it becomes nightly) encounters.  Theo eventually changes her mind.  Martha is so set on her plan to thwart her late hus

So Harley has this interview to do

for church. She's suppose to interview one of the "older" members of the church about their Christmas memories and she'll have a presentation to do in front of the whole church at one of our Christmas programs. That is all fine and dandy, but she's in 3rd grade. Can you see her trying to take notes for when they answer her question of "what is your most memorable Christmas memory?" There is no way she can write even half way fast enough to get it down. I understand what they're trying to do and it's great! But what were they thinking asking a 3rd grader to do it? We have tons of 6th graders...let them do it. I'm tempted not to even bring her tonight for it. What should I do?
