I'm Up Early

It's barely 6:30 in the morning and the kids don't have school. I don't have to be at work until 10, yet I'm still awake. Not just awake, but dressed, with my shoes on( the Flylady would be so proud). I haven't fixed my hair yet though ;0) So, what am I doing up early like this? I've played on Goodreads for a bit, ate a leftover taco that Lauren brought home last night AND...I'm planning Thanksgiving dinner!!!

Here's the menu so far -
  • turkey
  • mashed potatoes and gravy
  • baked spinach
  • vegetable casserole
  • broccoli rice casserole
  • oyster dressing
  • macaroni and cheese
  • green beans
  • rolls
and for dessert -

  • buttermilk pie
  • fudge
  • Oreo balls
  • peanutbutter balls

Yeah, yeah, that sounds like a lot of food, but it'll be me, Hubs, all 5 girls, 1 son-in-law, 1 soon to be son-in-law, and the grandchild. I think we'll eat most of it LOL If not, I may not have to cook Friday and that would be just fine :)

My Reading Habits

I am an avid book reader.  I have even been known to read a good bit of fanfiction (I'm a Twifan...yes, I admit that in public).  Since joining Goodreads I've come to love to do reading challenges.  In case you're like my best friend and have no clue what that might be, let me explain.  A reading challenge can be as simple as setting a reading goal for the year.  Or it can be as complex as one I'm doing next year that is an Artist Color Wheel Challenge - find book covers that are mainly the colors on the color wheel and are the shades of the grey scale. Anyway, I read Book Chick City's blog  http://www.bookchickcity.com/  and they're doing a Mystery/Suspense reading challenge that I'm going to join in on next year.  I'm going to see if I can read 12 mystery/suspense books.  You may be thinking that that isn't a whole lot of books for someone who claims to be an avid reader; and you're right, it's not BUT I normally don't read myste...

Crafty Round Up for mid-October

Hi friends!!  I figured I needed to come share my sewing/stitching/quilting updates with you because it's been a while.  So, let's get started... First up is quilty goodness.  And it comes with a story.  Christmas 2021 I bought myself a block of the month subscription from Fig Tree Fabrics for her Manchester by the Sea Mystery BOM program.  If you are not familiar with Joanna and Fig Tree Fabrics, go check her out.  Her stuff is GORGEOUS!!!  I've bought her fabric forever for clothes for the girls.  Joanna does the block of the month programs and sends out fabric and patterns each month and you end up with a beautiful sampler quilt.  Manchester by the Sea was scheduled for April 2022 thru March 2023.  I got a beautiful envelope of fabric and instructions to make blocks each of those months and did not touch a one of them until we came back from Disney last month.  I'm a member of her BOM group on Facebook and have seen the fin...

Long Time No See

Hi there!  It's been a hot minute since I've visited with you.  Let me catch you up on what's been going on. I think the last time I was here was back in October.  That would totally make sense because I got a new full time job at the end of October that had me working 50 hours a week.  With all that work going on I had little time for anything else.  Good news (or bad, depending on your point of view) is that the job is over and I am back to being a stay at home wife again.  There will be plenty of time to catch up on cross stitch and quilting.  My needles will be happy since my poor sewing machine has not been touched since November!   Once again, I am back to tracking food.  I gained back 10 pounds while working.  My body hurts again and I don't want to ache.  So, I am taking it day by day.  Positive thinking. Good food choices.  I got this. The holidays came and went.  All the girls are doing good....
