Guess who's baaacccckkk???

It's been a LOOOOONNNGGGG while since I've been here.  Apparently, it's been *whispers* five years.  What's been going on with you in that time?  Well, I'm still reading...and writing reviews.  I'm still on GoodReads, but I run a romance book blog with my bestie Amanda.  Check us out... Two Girls with Books.  We have a good time with that.  I haven't been in the classroom in a couple of years, but I did apply for a couple of teaching jobs just over the weekend.  And I still have my lovely family :)

My girls have all but grown up.  If you remember, I have 5 girls.  My oldest is living in Louisiana with her two children (yep, I'm a Mimi now).  The second one just re-enrolled in college, she's 24.   I have her junior class picture on here somewhere LOL  She'd DIE if she knew I had that posted.  The middle one lives in Huntsville and works at The Walking Company.  They have great shoes and she gets an amazing discount.  The fourth one is officially a Senior in high school!  She is in New England as we speak on a week long field trip that will count as a half credit.  And the baby...the one the blog is named after.  Mallory is 15, a sophomore in high school, plays the clarinet, and is visiting her best friend in Louisiana this week.

Yes, we still have pets.  Dixie the Wonder Dog is still around.  We now affectionately call her Crocodile.  You can't help but see it since she's a Bassett Hound.  We still have kitties.  Pepper will drive me to an early grave with his shenanigans.

Pepper is stalking everyone on the ground
I'm guessing you're wondering why I'm here rambling about my life, aren't you?  Well, you see, I've...kind of...put on some weight.  Yes, I cringed as I typed that.  In fact, the lovely gadget on my phone says I weigh 20 pounds more now than I did two years ago (and I wasn't a skinny minnie then either).  So, to make a long story short, or shorter, I've decided to come back to the blog here to make myself more accountable in my dieting journey.  And honestly, I guess I shouldn't call it a "dieting journey", since the word diet has such a bad connotation.  Maybe I should say my new way of eating.  Or my new healthier lifestyle.

Whatever I call it, you get the picture, right?  I'll try to post daily about the foods I'm eating, what I did, or didn't do, for exercise, the successes and failures.  Who knows, I may post more than once a day depending on the day.  Will I still talk about my kids and hubs?  Of course!  Will I still post those fantastic book reviews?  There's no doubt about that.  Do I want to hear from you, dear reader?  YES!  Let me know how your diet is going, or not.  Let me know if you've read that book.  Let me know if your family is driving you batty.  I want to know these things :)

So, until next time....

Ready for the rodeo?

Well, after being away from sewing and listing and selling for a couple of years, I've finally got something new up. I used an adorable cowboy and cowgirl fabric from Michael Miller and made this skirt and top that would be perfect for a trip to the rodeo. Or it would be great for western day at school. Feel free to check it out...even bid on it ;0) http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Boutique-Rascals-Western-Cowgirl-CBD-FCBM_W0QQitemZ280255354898QQihZ018QQcategoryZ79714QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

A Lady Awakened by Cecilia Grant

I won an ARC of this on Goodreads - thank you so much!  I enjoyed it so much! My favorite romances are of the Regency period and this is that time period.  But that is where all similarities to others end.  Mrs. Russell (I just can't bring myself to call her Martha LOL) is a new widow who comes to realize she will loose her home and her dowry if she doesn't produce a male heir.  The kicker to this is that the late Mr. Russell's brother is a total jerk-face who has taken advantage of women in their home when he lived there as a young man.  Enter Mr. Theo Mirkwood...the rogue who has been sent to the country as a punishment by his father.  Mrs. Russell employs Mr. Mirkwood as her "stud" for a month so she can conceive a child and claim the inheritance.   Mrs. Russell believes she can't take any pleasure from their daily (later it becomes nightly) encounters.  Theo eventually changes her mind.  Martha is so set on her plan to thwart her late hus

So Harley has this interview to do

for church. She's suppose to interview one of the "older" members of the church about their Christmas memories and she'll have a presentation to do in front of the whole church at one of our Christmas programs. That is all fine and dandy, but she's in 3rd grade. Can you see her trying to take notes for when they answer her question of "what is your most memorable Christmas memory?" There is no way she can write even half way fast enough to get it down. I understand what they're trying to do and it's great! But what were they thinking asking a 3rd grader to do it? We have tons of 6th graders...let them do it. I'm tempted not to even bring her tonight for it. What should I do?
