One Day by David Nicholls

Well, I've learned a couple of things reading this book...

1) I need to actually skim the reviews my friends write rather than just looking at their rating. This is one of those Nicholas Sparks type of books that leaves you snot-sobbing at the end. Not exactly my favorite reading. Sure, I love angsty books, but this was just totally heartbreaking.
2) I don't focus well on the words that are written on the page if I have tears pouring down my face. I just can't see through the tears.

That being said, this is a book I'm glad I didn't chunk at the wall half way through when I learned it wasn't a true HEA. Dexter grew so much through this book. It was amazing how he changed. I really hated him at one point during the book. By the end, I felt so sad for him. He wasted most of his life not being with the woman he loved (he was too stupid and blind to know he truly loved her), and then she was taken from him when they finally got it together.

Honestly, I didn't want to know that he ended up with Maddy. Did I expect him to stay in mourning for the rest of his life? No. I just didn't want to know that he and Maddy ended up together. This was a story of Dex and Em. Em and Dex. I do like that Maddy gave him his space on the anniversary of Em's death, so he could deal with the day however he needed.

All in all, I'm glad I read this. Just be warned, while you will laugh, you'll also cry. Have tissues handy.

PS. I don't think I could watch the movie. I'd be too emotional.

My Reading Habits

I am an avid book reader. I have even been known to read a good bit of fanfiction (I'm a Twifan...yes, I admit that in public). Since joining Goodreads I've come to love to do reading challenges. In case you're like my best friend and have no clue what that might be, let me explain. A reading challenge can be as simple as setting a reading goal for the year. Or it can be as complex as one I'm doing next year that is an Artist Color Wheel Challenge - find book covers that are mainly the colors on the color wheel and are the shades of the grey scale. I'm going to see if I can read 12 mystery/suspense books. Halloween's around the corner

So, I've been working on Hallween designs this week. What you see in the picture is a sneek peek of a set I'm listing next week for Bow*nified Designs Spooky Chic Halloween launch. I've got a OOAK skirt set almost finished and another set ready to cut out. Who'd have thought that I'd be working on Halloween stuff the very week the girls go back to school. I surely didn't. But I feel the need to keep up with what is selling :) And speaking of the girls going back to school this week...I've already subbed for 3 days! It's the first FULL week of school and teachers are missing days. CRAZY! However, I mustn't complain. This at least gets me in the classroom and schools so teachers won't forget me and the principals won't forget me so they can give me a job ;0)
